BEGINNER'S INFORMATION

To become a member of our club you must first complete a beginner’s course. The aim of the course is to teach you the basics of shooting safely with the club and the start of good shooting technique. We also look at archery etiquette and the different types of bows and archery disciplines. This is all in accordance with our governing body, Archery GB.

How it works:

We run beginners’ courses during our outdoor shooting season, from April – October. We often try to wait until we have four people wishing to take part, but the minimum we require is two. You will have a six-week period in which you will need to attend six training sessions, led by one of our five club coaches. Each session will introduce a new aspect of archery as well as building on and developing what you will have learnt from the previous sessions. The six sessions include insurance cover from Archery GB.

Equipment:

We have equipment available to use at the range which will be lent to you for the duration of the beginner’s course.

Cost:

The cost for our beginner’s course is £75 per person. This includes all the club equipment you will be using throughout your course.

What happens next?

Upon completion of your beginner’s course, if you wish to take up the sport and shoot with us, you will need to become a member of Archery GB, county and club. This will be simple and easy to do, with the Archery GB membership being completed online and a form to fill in for joining the club.

Fees:

There are a few fees to be a member of both Archery GB and of the club, broken down as follows:

Archery GB Membership:

Senior: £65/year

Junior (Under 21): £25/year

County Affiliation Fees:

Senior: £14

Junior (Under 21): £6

The Archery GB membership fee is paid directly to them when you sign up at Become an Archery GB Member | Archery GB. The County affiliation fees are paid to the club along with your membership fees.

Club Membership Fees:

We have a pro-rata system in place, meaning you will pay a certain amount depending on the month you join us, with the full amount payable in September each year. A full breakdown of the club fees is shown below:

September - November

Senior: £85

Junior: £65

December - February

Senior: £65

Junior: £50

March - May

Senior: £45

Junior: £35

June - August

Junior: £20

Bow Rental:

Upon completion of your beginner’s course, you will have the option to get an upgraded bow kit for you to be able to keep and use at all club shoots/tournaments you wish to attend. We require a £100 deposit for use of the club equipment. This deposit covers you for 12 weeks from the date you receive your bow kit from the club, thereafter either a monthly bow rental fee will be taken from the deposit or you can return the equipment and get your deposit back.
